MOSCOW, Jun 5 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Federal Antimonopoly Service has cleared major mobile operator MTS to acquire a 100% interest in Internet provider Efkom, operating in the city of Belgorod, according to the regulator’s decision published late Monday.
The antitrust regulator said it also sustained MTS’ motion to buy Belgorod fixed-line broadband operator Elf.
Both firms are owned by Roman Goncharov.
According to market analysts interviewed by business daily Kommersant, MTS now occupies around 25% on the fixed-line broadband market in Belgorod, while Elf’s market share stands at 10%. Its competitor MegaFon holds 28% of the city’s fixed-line broadband market, Kommersant reported.
